Anyone ever read a book, and from the first page to the last is the "good part?" Anyone ever heard of Tuesday's With Morrie by Mitch Albom? Its a great book, and if anyone hasn't read it, I highly recommend it. I love those kinds of books that are easy to understand, but hard to put down. I like how it has such a complex message, but it is such a simple book , and it isnt very long. If anyone wants to know what it is about, the answer is simply "the meaning of life," but it is sooo much more than that! There aren't any dull parts, and it really just makes you think about stuff. That sounds weird, but honestly, its really inspiring.
Its basically about mending relationships that have been strained or have lost importance. The main character was once really close with his old proffesor, Morrie, but throughout the years he has totally lost touch. He decides to connect with him again, and quickly learns that he can take away a lot from Morrie's meaningful life lessons.
I love this book so much because there are so many themes and messages of it.
-Life is so fragile and unpredictable that we dont have time to sit around waiting for something to happen, everything we want from this life is in our hands, if we dont take advantage of the time we have, the inevitability of growing old will become more and more scary.
-There is so much to learn from others, everyone has experienced different things, have learned things we haven't, and it is a shame if we dont take the time to listen to them.
"The truth is...once you learn how to die, you learn how to live."
This is a really scary thing to think about, but its totally true. Acceptance rather than fear is the key to being able to understand how precious our lives are. Morrie believes that the fear of aging tells something about you, it means your life is unfifilled. Embracing age means that you have the wisdom to deal with challenges rather than being young and freaking out.
I really just love everything about this book. The beginning, the end, the messages. And of course, Morrie. He is a passionate and kind man who has a lot to tell the world. I hope I have someone like him to help me through my life.
